Double Eye Lid

eyelid pictureThe eyes are often referred to as the windows of the soul and one of the first things we look into when we meet someone. As the eyes are such attractive aspects of a persons face, it is not surprising that many people have double eyelid surgery and it’s especially true once a person is of mature years.

A person’s face can be completely transformed with the removal of saggy eyelids, bags and crows feet. It’s not all unusual today to consider cosmetic double eyelid surgery. Eyelid treatment can make you look younger and more alive.

Blepharoplasty, the correct term for eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that reshapes the eyelids. Looking youthful and energetic is something that comes from eye and double eye lid surgery.

The muscle supporting the droopy eyelid (called Ptosis) needs to be tightened in a surgical procedure so it is elevated and secured. A browlift is a similar procedure which tightens the loose skin above and around the eyebrow but has the advantage of pulling up the bags below the eye making you look more youthful.

A study of adults aged 51 to 64 found that eyelid surgery was their top consideration of all cosmetic surgeries and that it was a benefit to vision. A lax upper eyelid skin can be the cause of a saggy eyelid. Scarring is rare, as the skin of the eyelid is the thinnest of any in the body. However, upper eyelid procedures usually cause bruising and swelling that starts soon after the surgery. Surgical procedures on eyelids are normally straightforward but additional work of removing excess fat and muscle layer is carried out if the eyelid is puffy and heavy.

Collagen or another of its derivatives are fast becoming serious considerations in replacing eye and double eye surgery. Sometimes where a facelift or double eyelid plastic surgery has not had the desired effect, Micropigmentation is helping to correct the effect of drooping eyelids by increasing the definition around the eyes with permanent makeup. This treatment can also visually adjust the shape of the eye to one that is more pleasing without the need for costly corrective double eyelids surgery.

Before any double eyelid surgery can take place however, there are important factors to consider; for instance how quickly does the patient heal, do they bruise easily and how well the eyelids will be looked after during the postoperative time.
