New Jersey Eyelid Surgery

Whenever we meet someone, whether or not it is for the first time then the first thing we do is look into their eyes. As the eyes are such attractive aspects of a persons face, it is not surprising that many people have cosmetic surgery on this area and it?s especially true once a person is of mature years. Once corrected, baggy eyelids, crow?s feet and dark areas under the eyes, an individual will look considerably more attractive.

Most people would, if given the opportunity have corrective treatment on their eyelids to make them look more attractive. Candidates for cosmetic eyelid surgery want their appearance to better communicate their feelings of youth, energy, and vitality.

The medical term for the specialist area of eyelid re-shaping is Blepharoplasty. Looking youthful and energetic is something that comes from eye and eyelid surgery.

A droopy upper eyelid is called Ptosis so to correct this problem an eyelid tightening procedure can be performed and the thin muscle supporting the eyelid is elevated and secured. Similar to eyelid correction, a browlift also pulls on the loose skin above the eyebrow but has the advantage of also removing the bags and wrinkles fro below the eye itself.

For some, eyelid surgery can provide improved vision and in a study of 51-64 year olds it was the number one procedure to be considered. A lax upper eyelid skin can be the cause of a saggy eyelid. Scarring is rare, as the skin of the eyelid is the thinnest of any in the body. Upper eyelid surgery does have one downside though and that is the bruising and swelling that normally starts showing very soon after the procedure. Patients that have heavy and swollen eyelids normally have the excess fat and muscle layers removed at the same time.

Collagen or another of its derivatives are fast becoming serious considerations in replacing eye and eyelid surgery. Micropigmentation or permanent makeup is helping some people increase the definition of the eyes and drooping eyelids where surgery has unfortunately not worked. Another use of Micropigmentation is how it can alter the look of an eye to make it look more symmetrical without any need for surgery.

Other points should be considered before any eye surgery takes place, for instance does the patient heal quickly, are they prone to bad bruising and what level of care their eyelids will receive after the operation.
