Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

Whenever we meet someone, whether or not it is for the first time then the first thing we do is look into their eyes. Many cosmetic procedures are now carried out on the eyes and eyelids especially amongst older people as the eyes continue to be an attractive part of a persons face. No one doubts that bags under the eyes, droopy eyelids and laughter lines are not attractive but they can be treated with cosmetic eye procedures and make a person much more attractive.

It’s true that most men and women get to a point when they consider cosmetic eyelid surgery. If it’s a more youthful appearance you want to convey then having cosmetic treatment on your eyelids could be the answer.

The medical term for the specialist area of eyelid re-shaping is Blepharoplasty. Droopy eyelids and bags under the eyes can make you look tired, even when you are not and this is another area that cosmetic eye and eyelid surgery corrects.

A droopy eyelid is not necessarily a sign of age but can age you considerably, so carrying out a surgical procedure which tightens the muscle controlling the eyelid can correct this condition. A browlift is a similar procedure which tightens the loose skin above and around the eyebrow but has the advantage of pulling up the bags below the eye making you look more youthful.

People between the ages 51 to 64 considered eyelid surgery to be the number treatment as it can benefit vision. A lax upper eyelid skin can be the cause of a saggy eyelid. Scarring is rare, as the skin of the eyelid is the thinnest of any in the body. Although there is little chance of scarring on the eyelid, there is more than likely going to be swelling and bruising that starts to show very soon after surgery. Patients that have heavy and swollen eyelids normally have the excess fat and muscle layers removed at the same time.

Many people have decided to prolong eye and eyelid surgery for as long as possible by using collagen or one of its alternatives injected. Sometimes where a facelift or eyelid surgery has not had the desired effect, Micropigmentation is helping to correct the effect of drooping eyelids by increasing the definition around the eyes with permanent makeup. Another use of Micropigmentation is how it can alter the look of an eye to make it look more symmetrical without any need for surgery.

Other points should be considered before any eye surgery takes place, for instance does the patient heal quickly, are they prone to bad bruising and what level of care their eyelids will receive after the operation.
