BLEPHAROPLASTY

Often, the first aspect of a person we notice is the eyes as they are the way in which we subconsciously decide whether someone likes us or not. No-one would dispute the allure of attractive eyes and it?s not surprising that many cosmetic procedures amongst older people are those of eye and eyelid enhancement. An individual without dark areas under their eyes and laughter lines will look much more appealing.

It?s not all unusual today to consider cosmetic eyelid surgery. Individuals who look to having cosmetic eyelid treatment want to make themselves appear younger and more vibrant.

Blepharoplasty, the correct term for eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that reshapes the eyelids. A bi-product of having your eyes and eyelids attended to is that you will not only look younger and also appear to be full of energy.

A droopy upper eyelid is called Ptosis so to correct this problem an eyelid tightening procedure can be performed and the thin muscle supporting the eyelid is elevated and secured. Where the eyebrow needs attention, a browlift pulls on the loose shin and helps to remove the bags and wrinkles found below the eye making the patient look younger and healthier.

For some, eyelid surgery can provide improved vision and in a study of 51-64 year olds it was the number one procedure to be considered. Most often a droopy eyelid is due to laxity in upper eyelid skin. A surgical procedure carried out on the eyelid doesn?t usually carry a scar because the skin is so thin. Although there is little chance of scarring on the eyelid, there is more than likely going to be swelling and bruising that starts to show very soon after surgery. If the eyelid is heavy and swollen, the fat and muscle layers behind the eyelid are also removed.

More consumers are considering injecting collagen or other alternatives to prolong or avoid facelifts, forehead lifts and eyelid surgeries. There are times when a patient will not have the success with eyelid surgery they expected and so to combat the problem of drooping eyelids, another treatment called Micropigmentation or permanent makeup can be used to provide the same effect. This can also help visually correct the eye shape when they less are than ideal so the client can avoid additional expensive corrective surgery.

Eyelid procedures do not normally cause problems but there are points worth considering before any surgery takes place including the level of aftercare they will receive, do they bruise easily and heal quickly.
