Blepharoplasty Newsletters

Our eyes are referred to as the windows of the soul and we often feel ill at ease when we meet someone who will not meet us eye to eye. No-one would dispute the allure of attractive eyes and it?s not surprising that many cosmetic procedures amongst older people are those of eye and eyelid enhancement. A person?s face can be completely transformed with the removal of saggy eyelids, bags and crows feet.

Many women and men have looked at their eyes and wondered if cosmetic eyelid surgery could enhance their appearance. If it?s a more youthful appearance you want to convey then having cosmetic treatment on your eyelids could be the answer.

The correct term for eyelid surgery is Blepharoplasty and it is the re-shaping of the eyelid. A bi-product of having your eyes and eyelids attended to is that you will not only look younger and also appear to be full of energy.

A droopy eyelid is not necessarily a sign of age but can age you considerably, so carrying out a surgical procedure which tightens the muscle controlling the eyelid can correct this condition. A browlift is the procedure in which the loose skin from above and around the eye brows can be yanked up to remove under eye bags; removing wrinkles and leaving you looking healthier and younger.

A study of adults aged 51 to 64 found that eyelid surgery was their top consideration of all cosmetic surgeries and that it was a benefit to vision. A saggy upper eyelid skin, which is often a sign of age, can be caused by slackness in the upper eyelid. Scarring on the upper eyelid after a surgical procedure is rare as the skin is the thinnest here of any part of the body. Unfortunately though, operations on the upper eyelid can cause bruising and swelling not long after surgery. Patients that have heavy and swollen eyelids normally have the excess fat and muscle layers removed at the same time.

Not everyone jumps at the chance to have eyelid surgery and some individuals are considering using collagen or one of its alternatives injected instead. Also, if a patient has experienced problems after a facelift, micropigmentation can help to correct drooping eyelids without surgery by increasing the definition of the eyes and eyebrows using permanent makeup. This treatment can also visually adjust the shape of the eye to one that is more pleasing without the need for costly corrective cosmetic surgery.

ome factors that should be considered and can affect healing are which procedures are to be performed, how easily the patient bruises, how well the eyelids are taken care of during the postoperative period, and how good of a healer the patient is.
